Bhadrachalam

​Unlike most temples where Rama is depicted with two hands carrying a bow, the Mula-vigraha (presiding deity) here is Vaikuntha Rama, uniquely possessing four hands. He holds the Shankha (conch) in his right hand and the Chakra (discus) in his left hand (attributes of Lord Vishnu). His other two hands hold a bow and arrow. Sita Devi sits gracefully on his left lap, and Lakshmana stands alongside.

​The temple is open daily during these intervals: Morning Session: 4:30 AM to 1:00 PM Evening Session: 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM Note: On normal days, a standard general darshan takes about 30 to 60 minutes.

​Sri Rama Navami (March/April): Celebrated with massive grandeur, featuring the Sri Sitarama Kalyanam (celestial wedding), which attracts hundreds of thousands of pilgrims. Historically, the state government continues a tradition of presenting pearls (Mutyala Talambralu) for the wedding. Vaikuntha Ekadashi (December/January): Highly sacred for Vaishnavites, featuring the Teppotsavam (boat festival) on the Godavari.

​Parnasala (32 km away): The hermitage where Rama built a thatched hut during exile and the historical site from where Sita Devi is believed to have been abducted by Ravana. Yetapaka (2 km away): The site where the mythical bird Jatayu is said to have fought Ravana to rescue Sita. Gundala (5 km away): Natural hot water springs situated on the Godavari river bank.

​The ideal window is between October and February when the weather is pleasant and comfortable for river dips and temple visits. Summers can get exceptionally warm.
