The Cochin Port in Kochi, Kerala, is a key gateway for maritime tourism in South India. To handle the growing influx of luxury cruise liners and international passengers, the Cochin Port Authority operates world-class dedicated passenger facilities on Willingdon Island.
The crown jewel of this setup is Sagarika, India’s first full-fledged, state-of-the-art international cruise terminal, supported by the smaller Samudrika facility.

1. Sagarika International Cruise Terminal (Ernakulam Wharf)
Sagarika is a modern, ₹25.72-crore terminal designed specifically to meet international airport-style transit standards. It is built over a sprawling 2,253 sq. meters and can seamlessly manage up to 5,000 tourists at any given time.
- Swift Clearances: Equipped with 48 dedicated Immigration counters and 10 Customs clearance desks to prevent bottleneck delays when massive international cruise ships dock.
- Passenger Comforts: The terminal features a fully air-conditioned, spacious passenger lounge with public address systems, charging stations, clean restroom blocks, and high-speed Wi-Fi.
- Accessibility & Transit: Fully differently-abled friendly. The terminal provides golf carts (buggies) for elderly or physically challenged travelers to move easily from the ship to the main terminal building.
- Shopping & Dining: Built-in commercial spaces host duty-free shopping, currency exchange booths, souvenir stalls, and cafeterias.
- Paved Walkway & Parking: A beautifully landscaped 2.1-km paved waterfront walkway runs nearby, complete with a dedicated parking lot accommodating over 200 cars and prepaid taxi/auto bays.
2. Samudrika Cruise Passenger Facilitation Centre
Located abutting the BTP (Boat Train Pier) Berth, Samudrika is Cochin Port’s secondary terminal.
- It primarily handles smaller cruise vessels and yachts.
- It is fully air-conditioned and features dedicated security screening, prayer rooms, cozy waiting lounges, and parking.
