Golconda

The fort is open daily from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM. Visitors are required to clear out of the upper ruins after 5:30 PM, unless they hold tickets for the evening Sound and Light show.

Entry tickets cost ₹25 for Indian citizens and ₹300 for foreign tourists. There is an additional small fee of ₹25 if you wish to bring a still/video camera inside. It is highly recommended to buy tickets online via the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) portals to skip the entry lines.

The evening Sound & Light show is highly popular and narrates the fort's grand history (with Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan voicing the narrative for the Hindi shows). ​Timings: Shows generally begin around 6:30 PM or 7:00 PM depending on the season (earlier in winter, later in summer). ​Languages: The first show is always in English. The second show alternates between Telugu (Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays) and Hindi (Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, Sundays). ​Cost: Tickets range from ₹80 to ₹140 depending on whether you choose standard or executive seating.

Climbing to the Bala Hissar (the highest citadel) involves navigating roughly 360 ancient, uneven granite steps. It requires a moderate level of physical fitness, takes about 30 to 45 minutes of continuous walking, and can be tough on the knees. Make sure to wear comfortable sports shoes and bring plenty of drinking water.
