Kundala Dam

Kundala Dam (also known as Sethumadhavan Dam) is an engineering marvel nestled amidst lush green hills at an altitude of about 1,700 meters, located roughly 20 km from Munnar town on the way to Top Station. Built across a tributary of the Periyar River, it is Asia's first arch dam and holds back a pristine artificial lake.
Scenic Reservoir & Boating: The serene, glass-like waters of the Kundala Lake offer pedal boating, rowboating, and traditional shikara boat rides, allowing visitors to take in the surrounding pine forests and rolling hills up close.
Neelakurinji Blossoms: The surrounding valleys are famous for being a prime habitat for the rare Neelakurinji flowers, which bloom once every 12 years and cover the hills in a stunning purple-blue hue.
Cherry Blossoms & Golf: The area is also unique for its cherry blossom trees, which bloom twice a year, and features the nearby Kundala Golf Course, owned by Tata Tea.
