Munnar - Top Station Highway leads to Top Station, a breathtaking vantage point perched at an altitude of about 1,700 meters right on the border of Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Located roughly 32 km from Munnar town, it is the highest point on the Munnar-Kodaikanal road and derives its historic name from being the upper terminus of the Kottagudi Aerial Ropeway established by British planters.
Panoramic Views: On clear days, it offers sweeping, unobstructed bird's-eye views of the rolling Western Ghats, mist-filled valleys, and the distant plains of Tamil Nadu's Theni district, often making visitors feel as though they are walking above the clouds.
The Neelakurinji Phenomenon: The surrounding hillsides are famous as the natural habitat of the rare Neelakurinji (Strobilanthes kunthiana) flowers, which blossom in vibrant purplish-blue carpets once every 12 years.
Scenic Route: The journey to Top Station is an attraction in itself, winding through lush green tea plantations, high-altitude shola forests, Mattupetty Dam, Echo Point, and Kundala Lake.
