Privacy & Exclusivity Does a "private" houseboat booking mean we will be sharing the boat with other tourists?
No. When you book a private houseboat, the entire boat is reserved exclusively for you, your family, or your group. No other guests will be allowed on board. The only other people on the boat are your dedicated crew members (usually a captain, an oarsman/engine driver, and a private chef) who have their own separate quarters.
Can we choose how many bedrooms we want on our private boat?
Yes. Private houseboats come in various configurations to match your exact group size:
1-Bedroom: Ideal for couples and honeymooners.
2 to 3-Bedrooms: Perfect for families or small groups.
4 to 10+ Bedrooms: Designed for large family reunions or corporate gatherings.
Note: Regardless of the number of bedrooms, when you book the boat, the entire deck, living space, and dining area are completely private to you.
Customization & Dining Can we customize the food menu on a private houseboat?
Absolutely. Because the chef cooks exclusively for you, the menu can be tailored to your preferences.
How it works: You can specify your dietary preferences (Vegetarian, Vegan, Non-Vegetarian, North Indian, Jain, or Traditional Kerala style) at the time of booking. You can even request specific spice levels or ask the chef to prepare fresh seafood that you buy directly from local lakeside fishermen during the cruise.
Can we alter the cruise route or stops since the boat is private?
To a large extent, yes. While the boat must follow safety guidelines and anchor by 5:30 PM due to government fishing net regulations, you have flexibility. You can ask the captain to spend more time cruising the vast, open Vembanad Lake, or request to navigate through the narrower, quieter canals of Kuttanad for a closer look at village life.
