Chidambaram

Chidambaram (historically written as Chithambaram) is one of the most culturally, architecturally, and spiritually monumental towns in India. Located in the Cuddalore district of Tamil Nadu, it served as the religious heart of the Imperial Chola Empire.
Unlike many cities that grew out of military or commercial needs, Chidambaram’s entire history, layout, and global identity have revolved around a single sacred space for over 1,500 years: the Thillai Nataraja Temple.
